A bachelor's applicant to the Chinese Government Scholarship sends the section VI items that apply to every applicant, plus the bachelor's-specific CSCA score report and a study plan of no less than 200 words. Bachelor's-specific items

  1. CSCA Score Report. An applicant seeking a bachelor's degree must register for and take the CSCA before the application deadline and obtain a valid Score Report. Contact the target institution about the required test subjects for the applied major. — section VI, item 6. (Eligibility section IV, item 7 also requires bachelor's applicants to take the CSCA and upload a valid score report; the official CSCA website is www.csca.cn.)

  2. Study or research plan in Chinese or English, no less than 200 words/characters for undergraduates. — section VI, item 8.

  3. An applicant under 18 submits the legal documents of his/her legal guardian(s) in China. — section VI, item 11. (Eligibility section IV, item 2 sets the undergraduate applicant age limit at under 25.)

Items that depend on your programme or situation

  1. Language qualification. Section VI, item 5 names master's, doctoral, general scholar and senior scholar programs taught in Chinese as requiring a valid HSK score report; section VI, item 5 does not name bachelor's programs. Applicants for programs taught in other languages must provide relevant language proficiency certificates such as IELTS or TOEFL, per each university's requirements. — section VI, item 5.

  2. Arts or design applicants provide their own works (videos, paintings, etc.). — section VI, item 10.

  3. An applicant studying in China for more than six months submits a photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. The original, printed by Chinese quarantine authorities, is filled in in English and kept by the applicant. The medical examination must cover all listed items; incomplete records or those without the attending physician's signature, the hospital's official stamp or a sealed photograph of the applicant are invalid. Results are valid for only six months. — section VI, item 12.

Items that do not apply to bachelor's applicants

  1. Recommendation letters. Section VI, item 9 requires two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors for postgraduate programs or for academic education as a senior scholar; section VI, item 9 does not name bachelor's programs. — section VI, item 9.
